In the firm’s environmental and legislative practice group, Rhem advises clients in the power generation, oil and gas, and mining industries regarding compliance with federal and state environmental laws. He obtained his J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center and his B.A. from the University of Richmond.

Schafer earned his B.B.A. from Texas State University and his J.D. from Pepperdine University, Caruso School of Law. After law school, he clerked for the Hon. Michael J. Truncale, U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Texas.
Congratulations to Michael L. Slack, managing partner of Slack Davis Sanger’s Austin office, who recently became board-certified in aviation law. Ladd C. Sanger, managing partner of the firm’s Dallas office, also became board-certified in aviation law. Slack and Sanger are now among only a handful of lawyers board-certified in this new area of specialty, which was just added by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in 2023.
